Sabarmati Medical foundation (SMF)
Sabarmati Medical foundation (SMF), the regional organization of "Doctors of Modern Scientific System of Medicine", was organized in 1972. SMF function through a network of more than 400 doctors located in different part of Sabarmati. As per the records available and best of our knowledge, Sabarmati Medical Foundation is an oldest regional medical association of Ahmedabad. Membership strength wise also, it has the biggest number of membership.
As on 01-01-2025 it has 408 members on records. Sabarmati Medical Foundation is 53 years old, though it had a modest beginning, has a glorious past. Dr. Jesinghbhai, Dr. Gaurang Bhatt, Dr. Chandrakant Gandhi, Dr. D.P. Shah Dr. Jayprakash Vyas were the founders of Sabarmati Medical Foundation, They emphasized the need of a professional organization to promote brotherhood, to help in exchange of knowledge and to protect the rights of members.
Sabarmati Medical Foundation was initially named as Sabarmati Medical Association, (SMA) and only handful of doctors were its members. Dr. Jesinghbhai Shah & Dr. Gaurang Bhatt were founder President & Secretary. The scintillating glory of Sabarmati Medical Foundation that we see today is because of painstaking efforts by our past presidents & founder members. They laid down the foundation stone so deep and cemented so strong that it is recon as a force in the entire medical fraternity.
Currently Sabarmati Medical Foundation has more than 400 doctors including family physicians, consultants, super-consultants, dentists and physiotherapists. SMF doctors are always friendly, lovingly, co-operative and roll model of harmony in doctors’ fraternity. SMF organizes scientific programs, conferences & workshops (CME), Public health awareness seminars, cultural programs, festival celebrations, flag hosting, sports and trekking, kids skill developing activities and family programs. Recently we have started a ladies wing naming SMF Ladies Club.
